Lafayette -- John G. Gobel, 73 former Montgomery County resident died 5:25 p.m. Thursday at his home here 329 N. 26th St. He had been in failing health six months. Born in Crawfordsville and reared in Montgomery County, he had resided in Lafayette 35 years. He was employed at Purdue University Physical Plant before retiring in 1960. He was married in 1935 to Irene Fawbush. They were married in Lafayette. Mr. Gobel was a member of the Methodist Church at Raccoon. Survivors include the widow; three sons, RObert and Don Gobel of Crawfordsville and James Fawbush of Lafayette; three daughters, Mrs. Herman Thompson of Crawfordsville; Mrs. Helen Lanartz of Lafayette and Mrs. Alta Clemence of Covington; a granddaughter who was reared in the Gobel home, Pam Bryant; 16 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at Soller-Baker Funeral Chapel here. Interment in Greenbush Cemetery here. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Friday - typed by kbz

John G. Gobel, 71 of 329 N 26th St, Lafayette died at his home at 5:25 p.m Thursday after ailing the past six months. He was born in Crawfordsville, spent his early life in Montgomery County lived in Hammond 8 years and Lafayette 35 years. He was a 12-year employee of the Purdue Physical Plant retiring in 1960.  Mr. Gobel married in 1935 Irene Fawbush who survives. He was a member of the Methodist Church at Raccoon and Eagles Lodge, Hammond. Besides the widow he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Herman Thompson, Crawfordsville; Mrs. Helen Lenartz, Lafayette and mrs. Alta Clemence, Covington; three sons, Robert and Donald, Crawfordsville; James Fawbush, Lafayette and one grandchildren Pam Bryant who was reared in the Gobel home.
